We partner with Fairmont teachers and local educational service providers to offer specialized workshops. Fairmont’s fun line up of classes are taught with a creative, hands-on approach and individualized instruction on subjects that pique students curiosity and interests. The ability to write well is a vital academic and life skill. This summer, young writers will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a Fairmont teacher to take their writing to the next level. In addition to the fundamentals, students will have the opportunity to flex their word power through creative, analytical and informal writing activities.

This course is designed for students who took Algebra I during the school year and need to re-mediate the full or semester portion of the class. Also, students who have not taken Algebra I before the summer may take this class as a preview to Algebra in the upcoming school year. The class may not be used for advancement purposes. This class will cover the full year state mandated Algebra I curriculum and will be divided into two semesters.

This remedial course reviews and extends mathematical concepts and computational skills in preparation for the study of algebra. Students continue to develop proficiency by working with decimals, integers, fractions, factors, primes, percentages, measurements and exponents. Number sets, number theory, solution graphing, statistics and geometry are also covered. This course is not appropriate to take for advancement.

Swimmers will focus on learning four swim strokes as well as practicing water safety in small groups designed to help all children become more confident in the water. Coach Lemke has been teaching Fairmont students for the past 10 years and is a Certified Instructor and Lifeguard with the American Red Cross. Space is limited! No class held on the July 4th holiday.

Flag football is a version of American Football where the basic rules of the game are similar to those of the mainstream game, often called "tackle football" for contrast. Instead of tackling players to the ground, the defensive team must remove a flag or flag belt from the ball carrier called "deflagging" to end a down. In this camp the athletes will learn the basic football skills to prepare them for participating on a flag football team.  Such skills as throwing, catching, flag pulling will all be covered as well as an understanding of how the game works and basic rules will be taught.

Join Children in Motion for an amazing camp that will provide a unique opportunity to explore a variety of dance styles for all levels. This upbeat camp will cultivate the student's skills in jazz, hip-hop, ballet, lyrical and tap technique. Instruction in ballet fundamentals, extension work, leaps, turns and stage presence will be implemented. Students will develop flexibility, coordination, rhythm, discipline, and self confidence. Children will be split into two groups, K-2 and 3-6. Dress code: Dance attire such as leotards, tank tops, dance shorts, leggings or t-shirts are acceptable. Jazz shoes are strongly suggested.

Fashion Camp "The Original" Workshop focuses on the process of fashion design- from sketching to draping, designing and creating. The students will learn to hand sew, sketch several design challenges, plus complete a project on the sewing machines. Our week of camp wraps up with a big fashion show for parents and guests. There is no experience necessary for this camp, as we will teach the students all they need to know!

Students will become Jedi Knights in a Knighting Ceremony for friends and family towards the end of the session.

This fantastic camp has the goal of using magic as a way to teach children public speaking skills and confidence. Each week students will learn up to three new tricks and get to practice doing them in front of the class. This curriculum was written by a professional magician and has been a huge success. Children learn card tricks, coin tricks, ball tricks and more! The last day of camp includes a showcase for the children to demonstrate their new skills to their parents and friends!
