Our summer programs offer two package options that will give additional discounts for those families looking to spend an extended amount of time with us during the summer.  Interested in our Summer School but looking for full day option? Select the 5-Week Summer School & Camp Package for a full day option. You may add additional weeks of summer camp for those weeks outside of the 5-Week package. See camp calendar under Summer Camp section.  The 9-week Full Summer Package is whole summer package which includes full day programs from June 10-August 9, 2019.

Summer School Programs

For three hours each day, Fairmont teachers focus on the skills most important to lifelong academic success: reading, writing, and mathematics. Part of each day is devoted to group work and learning stations. Teachers meet with small groups to differentiate and individualize the learning experience. When students are not working with the teacher in their small group, they rotate among a variety of learning stations that reinforce the daily lessons, promote independence, and encourage problem-solving. Students will be assessed on the first few days of the program to determine summer placement.

As a Counselor-In-Training your child will put his or her knowledge of leadership, team building, and communication into practice as he or she assists Fairmont’s elementary summer camp counselors. CITs will meet regularly with a mentor to continually develop leadership principles throughout the summer.

We partner with Fairmont teachers and local educational service providers to offer specialized workshops. Fairmont’s fun line up of classes are taught with a creative, hands-on approach and individualized instruction on subjects that pique students curiosity and interests. SKATE KIDS Skateboarding Camp is a structured 3 hour camp that teaches hands on skateboarding. In our 4 day program. Students will learn at his or her own pace. Run by world renowned skateboarding professional Kurtis Colamonico and staff. Students will leave with new self- confidence and the skills Colamonico has learned to master in his two decades of experience, competition and performance. Students will learn the safety requirements of skateboarding, build fine motor skills, gain control of balance on a skateboard, improve arm and leg coordination, and reflexes while making friends in the comfort of Fairmont Private School. Loner boards, helmets, and sets of elbow and knee pads are available to the first 15 people registered. Any registrations after will need to bring personal skateboard, helmet, knee and elbow pads. How do I enroll?

You may enroll in our summer programs by clicking the Enroll button in the top right corner or click here. Once you complete the full application, you will be sent a confirmation email confirming enrollment and payment.  Fairmont requires full payment at the time of enrollment. 

Are the summer programs open to non-school year students?

Yes! Fairmont Summer Programs are open to the community. You do not need to be a school year Fairmont student to attend any of our summer programs. If you are interested in joining Fairmont during the school year, the summer is a great opportunity to meet Fairmont teachers, get familiar with the campus, and prepare for the upcoming school year academics. 

What is your refund policy?

Fairmont Summer Programs refund policy has been updated and is effective February 2019.

Fairmont Summer Programs Refund Policy:

Refunds will be issued prior to June 1st for any cancellations after deducting cancellation fees (details below). After June 1st, no refunds will be granted. Please contact Fairmont Summer Programs to inquire about a refund: summer@fairmontschools.com.

Cancellation fees apply as follows:

For cancellations made before April 15th will receive 100% refund of program fee paid.

For cancellations made between April 15 and May 31 will receive 50% refund of program fee paid.

No refunds will be granted for cancellations after June 1st.

For international students that are not able to obtain a visa, we will provide 100% refund with written proof that the visa was denied for this summer.

I work full-time. Do you provide any before and after program care? What is the cost?

Complimentary extended care is available for children enrolled in summer camp at no additional cost from 7:00 AM-9:00 AM and/or 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Also available mornings from 7:00 AM-9:00 AM for children enrolled in summer school at no additional charge.

For working parents, Fairmont's extended day program is a convenient option. Before and after regular camp hours, the Fairmont staff will provide your child with games, sports, and crafts aimed to zap boredom and help your child maximize summer fun. (After 6:00 PM, there is a $1 per minute late pick-up charge.)

Are there additional registration or activity fees?

There are no additional costs to our programs. Fees include all activities, instruction, and afternoon snacks.

Camp fees do not include lunch which can be purchased for $6 per day at the lunch table at your campus. 

Do you offer a sibling discount?

Fairmont offers an earlybird 10% discount through the month of April for all summer school and summer camp registrations instead of a sibling discount. Discounts don't apply to enrichment workshops.

What are your campus hours?

The Anaheim Hills, Historic Anaheim, and North Tustin Campuses are open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. 

We offer complimentary extended care from 7:00 AM- 9:00 AM and for 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM for full time students at no additional charge.  For those participating in our summer school program, complimentary care is from 7:00 AM- 9:00 AM before the program begins.  Summer school only students need to be picked up by 12:15 PM or they will join our afternoon summer camp program. 

For students located at our Prep Academy, student are able to be on campus from 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM.  The computer lab is available during those times for study and any classwork needed to be done.  

Is Fairmont closed on July 4th?

Yes! All campuses will be closed Thursday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.

Does Fairmont provide snacks during the day?

For the preschool program, morning and afternoon snack is provided. For elementary - junior high program, only afternoon snack is provided. 

We recommend students in summer school and morning camp bring a morning snack to have at their break/recess.

Does Fairmont provide lunches?

A lunch and a drink are required each day for all full day campers. Fairmont is now offering a new, revitalized lunch program that offers fresh, healthy options that your child will enjoy. Using the most quality ingredients, these hot lunches are available for purchase and can be ordered daily or in advance at a cost of $6.00 per day. Credit card and check payment only.

All lunch orders must be requested by 9:00 AM at your campus. There will be no refunds due to absences, and current balances with Fairmont Nutrition Management are not transferable.

On Fridays, campers should bring their own sack lunch when lunch is not provided.

HEALTH & SAFETY

How do you screen your staff? Do you do background checks?

We take the safety of our campers very seriously, therefore we make sure that all of our counselors interacting with your child have all the skills needed to provide a fun and safe environment for all campers. 

Our counselors go through a lengthy and thorough interview and background check process conducted by our Human Resources and Summer Department as well as extensive training to prepare them for a fantastic summer.  All counselors are LiveScan fingerprinted and are background checked through the DOJ and FBI. 

If you are a school year Fairmont parent, you will notice many of our Student Services members that transition to counselors in the summer.  All school year staff, as well as returning counselors from previous summers are required to go through the application and training process each summer to keep their summer counseling skills fresh and new. 

 

What if my child has a severe allergy?

Please be sure to indicate any allergies your child has on the Health History Form as well as stating the severity. If your child requires an EpiPen, please check the EpiPen in at the front office for the duration of the student's time at Fairmont. EpiPens will be stored in the front office while the student is on campus and then transferred to your student’s assigned counselor for any off-site trips. Please label your child’s EpiPen with his or her name in its original packaging.

What if my child needs special medication at camp?

Prior to your first day at Fairmont, we will be asking you to complete a detailed Health & Emergency Form for your child. If your child requires any medication to be taken while they are at camp, we will ask you to give a full detailed description. All medication (prescription or otherwise) will need to be checked in at the front office. Students are not permitted to have medication on them. While on-site, all medication will be stored and distributed by the front desk nurse. While we are off-site for swim day or a field trip, all medication will be carried and distributed by your child's assigned counselor. Prescription medication should be in it's original packaging, including the doctor’s recommended dosage or instruction and be accompanied by an authorization for prescription medication form and a physician’s authorization form.

SUMMER CAMP

What if I am nervous to send my child on a field trip? What are your policies?

We completely understand the anxiety that comes with sending your child off with camp to go to a public site for a field trip.  We can assure you that safety is our #1 priority in the summer, therefore there are many policies, procedures, and training in place to make sure that all of our on-site and off-site activities are as safe as possible. Fairmont Summer Programs is also an accredited camp through the American Camping Association which requires us to adhere to over 250 standards that include procedures and policies for going off-site in public areas. 

We encourage you to contact our Summer Department at 714-234-2757 if you have any questions or concerns about a specific field trip, as we will be able to provide you with the full process for that field trip. 

Here are some of the top safety considerations we use when going off-site:

  1. Our camper to counselor ratio is 10:1 for 1st-6th grade on trips. For Kinder, this is 8:1. We have additional staff onsite (Camp Directors, Summer Team, etc) to help with meeting these ratios as needed. 
  2. On trips, we combine two groups, so the ratios are 20:2 or 16:2. This means that a group will stay in line together or go to the bathroom together, but one counselor will go on the ride/into the bathroom and one counselor will stay with the students who do not wish to participate. When the group is reunited, they move to the next activity together.
  3. ACA has extensive standards relating to "Campers in Public". Fairmont complies or exceeds with all of these standards which are available to parents as requested. These are national standards that are deemed industry-approved by youth development professionals. 
  4. Different safety considerations apply at the different field trips. For all trips, Kinder students are grouped with highly qualified returning staff members and we use a "lead rope"--meaning Kinder students hold on to a special rope and become a little caterpillar winding their way through the field trip destination. This allows the group to stay together as a whole and not allow for adults to cut through their group and separate/distract/disorient our campers. 
  5. The buddy system really works! Students are grouped and help to account for one another. For Kinder students, this hand-holding is not only adorable, it makes sure that no one is alone. 
  6. Prior to each field trip, the counselors will establish field trip rules and expectations with their campers as well as appropriate on-site assistance in the event of an emergency. 
Are parents allowed to chaperone field trips?

Fairmont Summer Programs policy is that only Fairmont personnel are allowed to supervise campers on our off-site field trips. There are two main reasons that parents are not invited to accompany our field trips:

1. Fairmont staff go through a rigorous background check and training process which allows us to feel confident with how they interact with our students. We don't have a system like this for Parent Volunteers so we cannot guarantee appropriate interactions and don't know the background of the parents. To make sure everything is as safe as possible for our students, we make sure that only Fairmont staff are directly interacting with our students.

2. On occasion, parents appear at our field trip locations. It's very confusing for the student to know who is responsible for them-- their parent or their counselor? When we are out in public, we cannot have this kind of confusion and need the student to follow the instructions of the Fairmont Staff who is ultimately responsible for them. Sometimes the parents need attention and we cannot have that kind of distraction either since we need our staff to be focused on their students. To avoid the potential chaos, we simply ask that parents are not a part of the Fairmont experience on field trips.

If a parent or family member does arrive at the same location as our field trip and wishes to join the trip, we will ask that parent or family member to please check out the camper to be released in their care for the remainder of the day. They will not be able to join their camp group, as it may be a safety concern for the other campers of that group.

My child burns easily. What is your sunscreen policy?

We ask that all parents of summer campers apply sunscreen to their child in the morning before the start of camp. If you have authorized us to apply sunscreen in our Health and Emergency Form, we will apply it at lunch time for the rest of the day. This is especially important on swimming and field trip days as we will be outdoors for a majority of the day. If your child is allergic to a specific sunscreen, please indicate on the Health and Emergency Form and notify a counselor on the first day. 

Campers are welcome to bring their own sunscreen.  Please be sure to label it clearly and notify a counselor that your child will be using their own personal sunscreen. 

Fairmont purchases sunscreen in bulk through Rocky Mountain Sunscreen.  We provide SPF 50 Kids Spray Sunscreen.  The sunscreen is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, greaseless, PABA free and peanut oil free.  Please see the Rocky Mountain Sunscreen website for full details. 

I am concerned about the swimming portion of camp. What is your swim policy?

Students enrolled in our camp program will have group swimming on Wednesdays. All swimming facilities are staffed with certified lifeguards as well as all counselors have been trained to be active lookouts. Each facility will have swimming areas that are suited for all types of ability levels.  

All campers are assessed for their swimming ability by the facility certified lifeguards.  The swim test will determine whether they are able to go in the deeper water or off the slide or diving boards (if available at swim facility). If they pass the swim test, they will receive a wristband that allows them to the more advanced areas.  If they do not pass the swim test or choose to not take the test, they will stay in the shallow "non-swimmer" area.  All areas are are staffed with lifeguards and Fairmont counselor lookouts.

When and where do you go swimming?

Each camper will go swimming once a week from 1:00-2:45pm.  Facilities and day of the week for swimming varies by campus.

Historic Anaheim has a pool located on-site. Due to the on-site pool, Historic Anaheim campers will have group swim on Wednesdays and either Tuesday or Thursday (depending on age) with certified lifeguards. 

 We will update this site with additional information about swimming facilities and dates as it becomes available.

All campers will go to the pool, but swimming is optional. 

What do I need to bring for swimming?

A dry towel, sunscreen, and swimsuit are to be brought to camp every swim day. Students will change on campus before heading to their swim facility.

What if my child does not want to swim?

Swimming is optional, however all campers will be going to the swim facility regardless if they are swimming or not.  

We will not have any programs running on the campus during swim days for the non-swimming students to stay on campus.  We will have counselors out of the water with provided games and activities in a shaded area for those that choose to not swim that day. 

SUMMER SCHOOL 

I can only attend part of the 5-week summer school (June 24 - July 25). Will you pro-rate it?

Due to the limited space of Fairmont's summer school program, we are not able to pro-rate summer school for partial attendance. The summer school curriculum is developed to help build the student's confidence in the upcoming school year's academics.  We highly encourage the students to attend the full 5-week session in order to maximize their learning. 

Families unable to attend the entire 5-week session can enroll for the complete session to guarantee their spot, or can be added to a wait list in which we will notify you within two weeks prior to the start of a program if space allows for a student that is only partially attending. 

As we understand that families will be taking vacation during the summer season, we encourage you to contact the student's teacher to see if there is any minor work they can be doing while they are away from the summer school class. 

 

Who are the summer school teachers?

In order to provide an excellent academic program, we do our best to align our Fairmont teachers with the grade level they will be teaching in the Fall. However, due to a limited number of available Fairmont teachers, some of our teachers will not be at their school year grade level. As we have many teachers that teach summer school year after year, they have a multitude of experience and support to provide an exceptional summer school program in which your child will feel confident about the upcoming school year.

What are your summer school class sizes?

Fairmont works to provide small class sizes to allow our teachers the opportunity to provide differentiated and individualized instruction. For Kindergarten - 3 Grade, we will go up to 22 students with one teacher and an aide.  For grade levels that have high enrollment, we will look to open a second class depending on classroom and teacher availability.  For 4th Grade and above, we will go up to 24 students to one teacher.
